Aggressive, not torture

“The sources told ABC that the techniques, while progressively aggressive, are not deemed torture, and the debate among intelligence officers as to whether they are effective should not be underestimated. There are many who feel these techniques, properly supervised, are both valid and necessary, the sources said. While harsh, they say, they are not torture and are reserved only for the most important and most difficult prisoners”.

I have an idea. Let’s release the minutes of every single briefing where the top Dems & Repubs were told about the interrogations. Ms. Pelosi, since you so staunchly abhor what was done to these detainees and were privy to the information, I’m sure the record will show your dissent. So why aren’t you calling for the release of these documents instead of a “truth commission”? Perhaps you should get off your political high horse, pointing the fingers at Republicans, and come back down to Earth by demanding the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I understand that it’s up to AG Holder to determine if there will be an investigation and/or prosecution. But when the president can’t send a clear message on where he stands, he appears to be unwilling to take a stance. Take a stand and state your position.

  • April 19, 2009: Rahm Emanuel on ABC’s This Week– Obama believes those that devised the policy should not be prosecuted.
  • April 21, 2009: Obama says he’s not willing to rule out prosecution for some of those who set the policy.
  • April 23, 2009: Obama says a “backward-looking investigation would not be productive”.
